This is the meeting agenda for the Meeting to be held on 2008-05-09.

Date and Time: 2008-05-09 20:00 UTC?

Agenda:

  • next meeting time
  • status reports
    • 5.2.5 (Wes)
      • will release rc1 later today
    • 5.4.2 (Dave)
      • pre1 packaged and ready; will upload after meeting
    • makerelease (Wes/Dave)
      • Did use the new makerease
      • Notes: needed Getopt::GUI::Long for -h output
      • make distclean prompted a full configure run because of files
      • make checks threw some warnings (but that's not makerelease related)
      • md5sum and zipping had an issue (fixed)
      • In general: feels similar to the old makerelease script set though
  • Coding Issues
    • autoconf/libtool versions (dts12)
      • no great opinion set.
      • Wes proposes freezing versions in branches looking for reactions but gets little; agreement sort of though for now
    • gcc warnings, sparse, and similar tools (magfr)
      • should a big 0 => NULL patch be applied?
      • Consensus: yes
    • packaging (Jan; tabled till next meeting when he can make it)
      • General consensus: one large package with proper provides and conflicts
      • jsafrane wanted enterprise distro releases to be more directly compatible with the distro package though
        • Will write up summary and send to -coders
    • MIB Module ReWrites
      • move to list as well
    • changes to types/data structures (dts12)
      • discussion on long => int_32 conversion
      • Would require a 6.0 number with lots of warnings
      • Will certainly break lots of third party code
      • no volunteers to do the work and support
  • round-the-table "things being worked on" led by Wes
    • dts12: Mib-module-rewrite proposal; 5.4.2; desire to reconfigure configure
    • jsafrane: agentx deadlocks with trap loads
    • hardaker: 5.2.5 and UDP vs TCP study done; results to be published soon
