There are a number of sites with network management information on the World Wide Web. Some of the most useful are

   http://www.simpleweb.org/
http://www.snmplink.org/
http://www.mibdepot.com/

There are two Usenet newsgroups which are relevant.

  • 'comp.dcom.net-management'
which discusses general issues relating to network management
  • 'comp.protocols.snmp'
which is specifically concerned with use of SNMP in particular

(though there is a large overlap between these two groups). The SNMP group also has an FAQ (split into two parts) which discusses more general issues related to SNMP, including books, software, other sites, how to get an enterprise number, etc, etc. This is available from

   ftp://rtfm.mit.edu/pub/usenet/comp.protocols.snmp/

or via any of the Web sites above.
